The life and career of a freelancer is something that is not entirely for everyone. You need to be able to cope and adapt at the drop of a hat and you need to be aware of the uncertainty that comes with the job. This is the part many people have a hard time coping with. The uncertainty – the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not you will have a job next month, the uncertainty of your status or position in the company you are working for and the uncertainty of who you could be working for next. What will I need to know in order to hold down this position? I hope it pays well.” These are all inexorable anxieties that some people can live with and some people can’t and they are all part of the uncertain life of a freelance writer, programmer, whatever.
There are benefits to working freelance, though. As a freelancer, some businesses call you an independent contractor, you are afforded some, well, independence on certain decisions and moves and really, at the end of the day, you are your own boss and, for some, that fact alone is valuable enough.
